DT-1: Giza Plateau-Museum-Khan el Khalili Bazaar
(full day)
Your tour includes a camel ride across the desert (20 mins)
to the great Pyramid of Khufu. Tour the Giza Plateau, visit the Sphinx and Valley
Temple. Continue to the Egyptian Museum where you will view antiquities of
ancient egyptian civilization. Your final visit is the world famous Khan el
Khalili Bazaar for an exotic shopping experience.
DT-2: Islamic & Christian Cairo (full day)
Your tour of Islamic Cairo begins with the 12th century
Citadel of Salah el-Din. Within the walls of this medieval fortress is Alabaster
Mosque and the Qasr El-Gawahara or Jewel Palace built by Mohamed Ali, on a site
which was once occupied by Mameluke and Ottoman palaces. Next you visit the
Mosque of lbn Tulan, built in 876 AD, the oldest original mosque in Cairo.
Continue to Christian Old Cairo, where the Romans constructed the fortress of
Babylon. Built over the ruins of the two towers of this fortress is the Church
of St. Mary or El-Moallaqah (meaning overhanging or suspended) which is why the
most popular name for this church is the hanging Church. Visit the Church of St.
Sergius, founded at the end of the 4th century, it stands on a crypt that is said
to have sheltered the Holy Family during their flight to Egypt. Your tour ends
with a visit to the Coptic Museum, containing the world's richest collection of
Coptic art and treasures.
DT-3: More Pyramids - Saqqara, Abu Sir & Dahshur (full
day)
This tour is for pyramid-lovers and archeology enthusiasts.
First visit the Abu Sir pyramids of principal 5th-dynasty pharaohs, Sahure,
Niuserre and Neferirkare. The vast Tomb of Ptahshepses has been recently restored
and well worth the visit. Next visit the oldest of all pyramids, the Step Pyramid
and funeral complex of the 3rd-dynasty pharaoh Djoser, dating back to 2500 BC.
Continue through the desert to visit the Red and Bent pyramids at Dahshur, dating
back to the 4th-dynasty.
DT-4: Sound & Light - Pyramids, Karnak,
Philae
Early or late evening performances of the Son et Lumiere
(Sound & Light) extravaganza at the worlds most famous ancient sites, the
Pyramids in Giza, Karnak Temple in Luxor, Philae Temple in Aswan. See
schedule for performances that best suit
you.
DT-5: Dinner Cruise (3 hrs)
Drive around the city before embarking your dinner cruise
on the Nile. Dinner includes belly dancing and folkloric show. A very pleasant
way to spend an evening and experience Cairo by night.
DT-6: El-Faiyum Oasis (full day)
Often described as the "bud on the stem of the
Nile", El-Faiyum is a picturesque region of water-wheels. Here you will
visit the Qasr Qarun, with its Ptolemaic temple and panoramic view of this rich
agricultural region. Lunch is included at the Auberge du Lac situated on Lake
Qarun. |
